    Catfish Open Water Swim

Swimmers tired of being trapped in the confines of the backyard pool can join 1,200 other aquatic enthusiasts in the fourth annual Catfish Open Water Swim at Lexington Reservoir Aug. 13.

Swimmers can compete at distances of 1.2 or 2.4 miles in 20 age divisions. Postevent activities include live music, awards and catered food.

The event is the only legal opportunity to swim in Lexington Reservoir all year. For information call J&A productions at 408.360.9501.

    Chamber to hold golf tournament

Golfers can register for the fourth annual Town of Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament and Dinner, scheduled for Aug, 21.

La Rinconada Country Club is the setting for the tournament, which will be in a scramble format. The $200 entry fee includes green fees, a cart, box lunch and an awards dinner.

The Chamber is still looking for golfers and business sponsors. Call 396.5951 for a more information.

    Council to study parking solutions

The town council will hold a study session on Aug. 28 to look at what can be done both temporarily and in the long term to alleviate the downtown parking shortage.

Following the recent demise of the paid parking element of a proposed downtown parking management plan, council members will look at whether they want to salvage elements of the plan unrelated to paid parking.

Both the business community and downtown residents are pushing the town to put something in place before the holiday season.
