Infant in critical condition after fall in pool

    By Leigh Ann Maze

Officers from the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department and personnel from the Santa Clara County Fire Department responded to a call on Aug. 1, for a infant who had apparently fallen into the family swimming pool.

Officers arrived at the Twin Oaks Drive home in Los Gatos around 9 a.m. to find bystanders and family members administering CPR to the 9-month-old baby girl, according to police.

The baby was transported by ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital where she remained in critical condition in the pediatric intensive care unit as of Aug. 2.

"We certainly give credit to fact that she was given CPR at an early time," said Sgt. Kerry Harris with the LG-MSPD.

The gate to the security fence surrounding the family's pool was inadvertently left open, according to Harris. The baby, who was at home with family members, managed to get out through the back door to the pool. She was found by a family member, Harris said. It is uncertain how long the baby was in the water.

Police are not releasing the name of the baby's family.
