The investment advisor has lost his office lease in downtown Los Gatos, following a rent hike from $2,300 to $7,500 a month. Then, on July 28, his neighbor's pine tree came crashing down between his front door and his new Infiniti SUV. Kane had been out picking up the morning paper just minutes before.
