The Valley Home Pages focus on real estate news

    New section debuts this week

    By Dale Bryant

With today's issue of the Los Gatos Weekly-Times we begin a new section, Valley Home Pages. This part of the newspaper will focus on news about real estate, with an emphasis on the West Valley communities of Los Gatos, Saratoga and Monte Sereno.

We had two goals when we began talking about creating Valley Home Pages. First, we wanted to pay more attention editorially to news of the real estate industry with its growing importance in the local economy. Second, we wanted to better organize our newspaper to make it more convenient and more readable. Many of our real estate ads will now appear in this section.

Real estate has always made up a healthy portion of our advertising, but in the past year, it has grown dramatically. This, of course, is a reflection of the prosperity technology has brought to the Silicon Valley, making homes in the West Valley more desirable than ever.

All those real estate ads have made it possible for us to dramatically increase the editorial content of our paper. That's because the amount of space we have for news is always determined in relation to how much advertising we have.

Everyone these days seems to be talking about the real estate market. We hope that the Valley Home Pages will make it easier for our readers to learn what's going on in this lively segment of our local economy.
