Los Gatos Weekly-TimesGolf tourney benefits D.A.R.E.The fourth annual and Summer Classic Golf Tournament, which supports the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department's D.A.R.E. program, takes place Aug. 31 at La Rinconada County Club, 14595 Clearview Drive in Los Gatos. Fujitsu Laboratories of America and the Los Gatos Police Officers Association are event sponsors. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m., with a shotgun start at high noon. The event features a four-person scramble format and is open to all participants of all skill levels. The fee of $135 per person includes tee prizes, a barbecue lunch on the golf course, beverages, use of a golf cart and a banquet dinner at the country club. Among the prize categories are hole-in-one, best dressed, longest drive and closest to the pin. Reservations are required, as the tournament is limited to 144 golfers and has sold out in the past.
