Los Gatos Weekly-TimesLittle League opens fall programThe Los Gatos Little League will sponsor a fall training and development program for players ages 9-11 that will run from Sept. 7-Nov. 2. The program will feature a nine-game season, with games played on Sundays at Balzer Field, and is open to all players in the age division who either played in the league's major division last season or hope to play in the majors next year. The league hopes to field four to six teams, and players will be assigned to teams on the first-come, first-served basis. There will be 14 to 16 players per team. The fee is $45 per player, which includes insurance, a T-shirt and a baseball cap. No standings will be kept, and teams will be balanced by age. Special rules include: batting a continuous lineup, pitchers limited to no more than two innings per game, and coaches allowed on the field for instruction during the games. Los Gatos Little League major division managers Ken Rodriguez (Cubs), Randy Frey (Pirates), Dan Kropp (Yankees) and Ira Holtzman (Indians) will all coach teams in the league. The registration deadline is Aug. 22. For more information, call Rodriguez at 395-3595 or Frey at 356-1424.
