Repairs close Civic Center

All Los Gatos town offices, including the library, will be closed Friday, Aug. 29, and Monday, Sept. 2, for roof repairs.

Cracks in the civic center patio are leaking water into basement areas, so the entire patio must be broken up and replaced.

Town Hall reopens Sept. 3 at 8 a.m.

Street repairs announced

The town of Los Gatos plans street repairs between Aug. 18 and 26 on Union Avenue, from Los Gatos-Almaden Road to Anne Way, and on Winchester Boulevard, from Blossom Hill Road to Division Avenue.

Work takes place between 6 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Detour signs will be posted. To learn the location of road crews, call 399-5770 between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

ZIP code slip won't foil survey

What looked like a ZIP code rebellion in Monte Sereno turned out to be a typo in the city newsletter. The survey that asks Monte Serenans if they want a separate ZIP code from Los Gatos showed the wrong ZIP code in the address.

It wasn't intentional. An error in production transposed two numbers, rendering the ZIP 95003, the code for Aptos.

Residents can still complete the survey and mail it, City Manager Gay Strand said. The local post office and the San Jose and Aptos branches were notified quickly, so no postcards were lost.

Monte Sereno decided to include the survey in its quarterly newsletter at the prompting of City Council-member Joel Gambord, a champion of Monte Sereno's ZIP code drive. Gambord said the city deserves a number of its own.
