Sunnyvale wins three

The Sunnyvale National Little League all-stars have won their first three games of the Western Regional tournament in San Bernardino. The Western Regional champion advances to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Penn.

Sunnyvale National won the District 44 major division title to begin a trip that will hopefully lead to Williamsport. The Sunnyvale 'stars then beat the Willow Glen Little League all-stars in the Section 5 tournament, and beat Visalia to claim the Northern California Divisional crown.

Willow Glen had beaten Los Gatos in the finals of the District 12 tournament to move on to the sectionals. The Saratoga Little League also competed in the District 12 tournament.

Soccer Camps

Summer soccer camps for youth will be held throughout August at West Valley Community College in Saratoga.

A camp for youth ages 9-11 will be held Aug. 18-22, 2-5 p.m., and the cost is $50 per player.

A final camp for kids ages 9-14 will be held Aug. 25-29, 2-5 p.m., and the cost is $60 per player.

Another summer soccer camp for kids ages 5-18 will be held Aug. 18-22 at Blackford High School. The camp will be directed by professional soccer coaches. For information, call 997-7775.

Basketball Camp

The San Jose Lasers of the American Basketball League will hold a summer basketball camp for boys and girls at SJSU.

The camps, led by members of the Lasers and the team's coaching staff, will be held Aug. 18-21, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. each day, for girls and boys in grades 3-8. The cost is $205 per player. For information, call 271-1500.
