Kitchens of Los Gatos
Just as kitchens are the busiest room in the house when it's time to create something delicious or nutritious, so, too, is Kitchens of Los Gatos. The busy store gives old kitchens a facelift or creates a new one from scratch when people decide it's time for a change.
Between the commercial and the residential sectors, these decisions keep owner Roya Navid busy pretty much all the time. Countertops, sinks, range hoods, cabinets and accessories--Navid can plan and execute kitchen projects large and small. She also carries many of these items in her Los Gatos showroom.
Navid's knowledge comes from both theory and practice. After obtaining a bachelor's degree in interior design from San Jose State University in the late 1980s, she worked for an architectural firm for two years. She then ran a business inside McPhail's appliance store on S. Bascom Avenue called Kitchens and Baths Unlimited.
About a decade later, after building considerable experience and clientele, Navid moved her business from McPhail's and into downtown Los Gatos.
"I like doing this; I'm really interested in creating a space that's attractive and functional. Whenever I design a kitchen, I imagine myself in that space. It's like putting together a jigsaw puzzle," she says, smiling.
Along with her own eye for detail, she uses a complex, state-of-the-art computer program called 20/20 to custom-design projects, based on clients' personal preferences and space specifications. The program even simulates how the completed kitchen will look three-dimensionally and from numerous angles. If prospective clients bring measurements and other information to Navid, the consultation is free. If she must travel to clients, she charges a fee.
Kitchens of Los Gatos, 45-A E. Main St. The store is open Monday through Saturday; Navid prefers if clients call ahead for appointments. 408.399.3931.
