Four vie for three council seats

There were no last-minute surprises in the Los Gatos Town Council race even though the deadline was extended until Aug. 12 at 5 p.m. because incumbent Joanne Benjamin chose not to run again.

As reported earlier, there will be four contenders for three council seats.

Incumbents Steve Blanton and Randy Attaway are both seeking third terms, while Planning Commissioner Joe Pirzynski and Paul Merchain, a real estate consultant, have also thrown their hats into the ring.

By virtue of being the only candidate for the Ward 1 seat on the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District board, incumbent Pete Siemens will retain his seat.
