    Chamber mixer at Chart House

    The newly remodeled Chart House Restaurant will play host to the Town of Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce Aug. 30 after-hours business mixer.

    Chamber members and non-members alike can mingle and enjoy food and drink on the Chart House's new outdoor deck.

    The cost for members is $5; the cost for non-members is $15. All staff of Chamber businesses are Chamber members. Call 408.354.9300 for more information.

    Cunneen wins tech award

    For the fifth year running, District 24 assemblyman Jim Cunneen has received the American Electronic Association's (AEA) Legislator of the Year award. He will also be the first legislator to honored with AEA's new Lifetime Achievement award.

    The AEA gave Cunneen the award based on his leadership on a number of different technological fronts. Cunneen authored laws such as the 1998 Internet tax moratorium, bans on sending spam, tax exemptions for employers providing tuition assistance and tax credits for research and development.

    One open seat on commission

    Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian is inviting interested citizens to apply for an open seat on the county planning commission. Simitian will select and nominate an applicant to the county board of supervisors.

    The commission influences county land use policy and works to solve regional and neighborhood development problems.

    Interested citizens should contact Simitian's office at 408.299.3540. the deadline for applying is Oct. 1.
