Mountain lion spotted in hills
Residents of Cypress Way high in the Los Gatos hills alerted town officials last week to a mountain lion they say is frequenting their neighborhood.
One resident says neighbors spotted the animal eight times in two weeks, and another neighbor found a fresh deer kill in her yard.
Los Gatos Park Service officer Dave Gray, who met with the residents last week, says that if there is a mountain lion roaming the area, residents should keep indoors any food that might attract either mountain lions or deer.
If the mountain lion starts to present a threat to residents, Gray says, wardens from the state Department of Fish and Game will try to trap it and release it into the wild somewhere else.
Fish and Game advises that people should not hike alone and should keep children close by.

Two babies locked in cars
On Aug. 17, fire crews rescued a 4-month-old infant that was locked in a car on Via de Tesoros. The infant was inside the car for about 15 minutes.
Two days later, fire crews were called to the scene of a 1-year-old locked in a minivan behind the Opera House. That infant was successfully rescued as well.
