The Prowler
The Prowler suspects there must be a contagious ennui that develops at the end of the summer--or at least the end of August--because the pickings are always slim this time of year for cool events to write about. Last weekend's Fiesta de Artes and this weekend's Town Picnic are the notable exceptions, of course.
As though to compensate for this shortage, September is loaded with fun and interesting things for residents of Cat Town to see and do. For example, the new Hope Church has three events planed for this month: a neighborhood barbecue on Sept. 1 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.; a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house on Sept. 8 at 6 p.m.; and an official grand opening on Sept. 12 at 10:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome. The church is at 1975 Pollard Road.
The Saratoga Contemporary Artists holds its annual Art in the Garden event on Sept. 12 from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in a private Saratoga garden. A juried art show as well as an art sale, the event features paintings in all media from SCA members as well as works from members of the Los Gatos Art Association. Artist and judge Gerald Boyd will award the ribbons. There is no charge to attend, and this cat hears some tasty refreshments will be served. For directions, call 867-1180.
Jumping back to August for a final note, the Prowler hopes to see a good turnout on Aug. 29 for Music in the Plaza's final concert: Music of Mexico by Mariachi Tapatio and folkloric dancing by Alika del Nayar. These spirited troupes offer a great way to say "adios!" to another great MIP season. This curious cat can't wait to hear what the line-up for the new millennium will be!
