Los Gatos Weekly-TimesNews BriefsTown Chamber to set priorities The Town of Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce suggests that anyone interested in influencing the direction of the Chamber circle Sept. 24 on their calendars. That's when the first of two priority-setting sessions will be held. Reservation deadline is Sept. 21 for the session scheduled from 7:45 to 9:30 a.m. at the Los Gatos Lodge. Cost is $15. The second part of the session is set for Oct. 15 at the same time and place. County streams need cleanup Thanks to winter storms and litter from heavy park use, the streams in the county are in need of help, so the Santa Clara County Parks Department is looking for volunteers who want to "Save Our Streams" on Coastal Cleanup Day, Saturday, Sept.19, from 9 a.m. to noon. The department, along with the Creek Connections Action Group, is looking for help removing litter and debris from the Coyote Creek Trail in south San Jose, Lexington Reservoir County Park outside Los Gatos, and Stevens Creek County Park above Cupertino. Volunteers will be rewarded with a light lunch. More than 300 volunteers removed 15 tons of trash from creeks in the three parks last year. Call 354-6583. Red Cross needs new volunteers The Red Cross is looking for volunteers to aid in emergencies. The Santa Clara Valley Chapter seeks adults and youths to serve a variety of positions ranging from community representatives to health and safety workers. All volunteers receive training and are placed in a position that most suits their interests. For more information, call 577-2016.
