Five concerts are planned for a 50th concert seasonThe Los Gatos-Saratoga Community Concert Association has tickets on sale now for its 50th anniversary season, which consists of five performances from September 1997 through May 1998. The first concert, on Sept. 28, is "The Music of Broadway," presented by Lee Lessack and Joanne O'Brien. The duo will perform songs from shows including Oklahoma!, West Side Story, Evita, Fiddler on the Roof and Cats. Lessack, a tenor, trained at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York and has held leading roles in productions of Grease, Fiddler on the Roof, Godspell, Oklahoma! and The King and I. O'Brien, a soprano, is a graduate of the Philadelphia College of the Performing Arts and has starred in Oklahoma!, The Boyfriend, Sugar Babies, Carnival and South Pacific. She has also sung in the operas The Marriage of Figaro, Cosi Fan Tutte and The Old Maid and the Thief. Other concerts feature classical pianist Frank Wiens on Nov. 9; the Vancouver Wind Trio on Jan. 18; Scottish balladeer Carl Peterson on March 29; and arias, duets and ensemble pieces by members of Opera San José on May 3. All performances take place at 2:30 p.m. and are held in the Los Gatos High School Prentiss Brown Auditorium, except that of Carl Peterson, who will perform at the First United Methodist Church, located across High School Court from the high school.
