Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's Duct Tape Boy!

Thirteen-year-old Los Gatan Mark Jemison does not usually walk about town dressed like a superhero. On July 27, however, the Fisher Middle School eighth-grader not only looked heroic as Duct Tape Boy but also won a duct tape fashion show held at San Jose Giants Municipal Stadium.

That evening was proclaimed Salute to Duct Tape Night by The Duct Tape Guys, a whimsical duo of brothers-in-law named Jim and Tim who have written four books and a movie all about this multi-use household product. According to Mark, who says he was "quite the sight," the show had some 25 competitors, including baseball players, mummies, superheroes and even a duck.

"The crowd got to choose the winner by giving the loudest applause and cheers. They chose me!" he exclaims. His awards were a DVD player, a San Jose Giants pennant, two tickets to Six Flags Marine World, candy and--best of all--more than 150 yards of duct tape!
