    The Prowler

The great outdoors, reading and being a computer geek--the Prowler enjoys all of these, so that's what the Prowler is going to write about!

Not one to let a good nature walk go by without making mention of it, this cat is excited about a bat watch exploration hike coming up on Sept. 27. The hike takes place at a local park just a day or two after the bright harvest moon--the first full moon after the autumnal equinox. A guide tells stories about bats and the moon, probably debunking a few myths about each along the way! Participants will also learn what other creatures come out. Cost for the 1 1/2-hour outing is $5 per person; sign up and meet at the Wild Bird Center, 792 Blossom Hill Road. Call 358-9453 to reserve a spot!

The next event on the Prowler's list offers a different type of enlightenment. On Sept. 23 at 8 p.m., Bay Area resident Catherine Dee will be at Borders Books, Music & Cafe to discuss and sign copies of her new book, The Girls' Book of Wisdom: Empowering, Inspiring Quotes from over 400 Fabulous Females. She's also the author of the best-seller The Girls' Guide to Life. For a sneak peak at her works, visit www.deebest.com on the Internet.

For those readers who, like this techno-savvy cat, think the Internet is one of the greatest things since sliced bread, check out the Create Your Own Web Page class offered through the Los Gatos-Saratoga Department of Community Education and Recreation. The two-part class meets from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sept. 23 and 30 and teaches participants how to use webpage-creation software, the dos and don'ts of page creation and how to upload pages to hosting services. Call 354-8700 ext. 221 to register, as this class fills fast!
