The annual poetry competition was started by the late Mary Foster, and last year was named for her friend, the late Bob Aldrich, the former Los Gatos Weekly-Times columnist who twice wore the poet laureate crown. When Foster died this summer, organizers renamed the competition the Bob Aldrich-Mary Foster Memorial Poetry Contest. Second-place winner in the adult division was Frances Roberts, and third place went to Michelle Bishop. In the junior division, Kari McClelland was named poet laureate, with Justin Albano in second place and Sarah McAleev in third.
