Cats play at night

The Los Gatos varsity and frosh-soph football teams play an evening doubleheader against Oak Grove at San Jose City College on Sept. 18, 5:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. (it was erroneously reported last week that the frosh-soph team would play an afternoon game on Thursday).

Roan nails second

Los Gatan Philip Roan finished second in his age group at the RedBull Catfish Open Water Swim at Lexington Reservoir on Aug. 30. Roan swam the 1.2-mile course in 25:14.2 to finish second in the boys' 19-and-under division and eighth overall.

Scott Bannon of Los Gatos was sixth with Curtis Shimamoto eighth. Lisa Ratzliff of Monte Sereno was 12th in the girls' 19-and-under division.

LG Basketball

The Los Gatos National Junior Basketball League holds signups for the 1998 season on Sept. 15, 7-9 p.m., in the cafeteria at Blossom Hill School. Players in the third-eighth grades who live in the Los Gatos and Leigh high school districts are eligible.

Players are accepted on a first come-first served basis. Space is limited. Birth certificate copies are required. For more information, call 764-9760.

Peckler Relay

The CASA/Peckler Memorial Relay will be held Oct. 18 at 8 a.m. at Douglas B. Miller Point at Lexington Reservoir.

Relay teams cover a 15-mile course through the hills and parks of Los Gatos. Entry fees are $200 per team or $25 for individuals running or walking a single leg of the relay (cost for running or walking the entire course is $50). Students can run a leg for $10.
