Los Gatos Weekly-TimesSan Jose Opera Guild marks its golden yearIn celebration of its 50th anniversary, the San Jose Opera Guild invites its members and guests to its Golden Gala dinner, Sept. 18 at Los Gatos' La Rinconada Country Club, located at 14595 Clearview Drive. The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a no-host cocktail social hour and a performance by Opera San José singers. They will sing popular opera arias from the Opera San José season as well as that of the San Francisco Opera. Following dinner, keynote speaker Clifford "Kip" Cranna, musical administrator for the San Francisco Opera Company, will address the guests. The mission of the nonprofit San Jose Opera Guild is to support, develop and promote interest in opera throughout the Bay Area.
