Photo studio focuses on digital technology

Four Los Gatos-based photographers are teaming up with three vendors in the technology and printing business to offer an open studios day on Sept. 19 for business people and others interested in or currently using digital photography.

David C., Stacy Geiken, Jeff Hosier and Rod Johnson, all of whom share a studio located at 16 Lyndon Ave. in Los Gatos, will offer live demonstrations of digital photography, computer imaging and printing, as well as some hands-on activities. The open studio was the brainchild of David C., who noticed many of his clients lacked knowledge about the emergence of digital technologies.

"Many of my clients still believe digital photography is not as sharp as film; that is no longer the case. We want to get people down here to see our new studio, and we want to give them an educational experience," he said.

Bear Images of Palo Alto will supply digital cameras and output devices; Linotext Digital Imaging of Cupertino will demonstrate offset printings taken from digital samples; and Robyn Color of San Francisco will display photographic prints and transparencies made from digital files.

"This makes it more fun than a trade show. People get hands-on experience, and they get to see the result," David C. added.

The open studios day takes place Sept. 19 from 1 to 5 p.m. at 16 Lyndon Ave. For more information, call David C. at 354-1580 or Stacy Geiken at 395-7786.
