Los Gatos Weekly-TimesHouse tour tickets on saleTickets are on sale for Homes for the Holidays, a tour and Summit League benefit featuring three Los Gatos and Monte Sereno homes. The tour is held on Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Dec. 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The houses will be enhanced for the holiday season by interior designers, decorators and floral designers. The gabled Tudor estate of Mark and Barbara Beck was built between 1918-19 for Arthur and Jemima Bogart, who built several homes in the area in the early 1900s. Along with twin front gables, the house has sun rooms, colorful gardens, windows with multi-pane glazing, stucco wall cladding and cast stone trim. The early Craftsman-style country home of Dr. Donald and Nancy Cariani harkens back to 1912, when it was built for Robert and Lillian Latimer as a small country house situated among fields. With the passage of decades and the remodeling of many owners, the house expanded to the size it is today. Among other attributes, it has landscaping evocative of a French garden and a 25-foot-long kitchen with marble counters. Nestled in the Monte Sereno hills, the 1920s villa of Robert "Bob" and Glynne Lewis was built in 1927 and has evolved over the years, thanks to various owners. The Lewises purchased it in 1981 but spent a year remodeling it before moving in with their children. The house has a pool and cabana, dramatic landscaping and an interior that reflects Mediterranean elegance. The Summit League, established in 1957, is a nonprofit organization that raises funds for charities and groups involved in education, health, welfare and the arts throughout the Santa Clara Valley. The Summit League will donate proceeds from this event to the San Jose Family Shelter. For ticket information, call 395-5040.
