New historic ordinance is approved Monte Sereno councilmembers accepted a remodeled historic preservation ordinance Sept. 16, with a 4-1 vote. The ordinance--the one that led four of the city's five heritage preservation committee members to resign when it was tentatively endorsed earlier by the council--means homeowners don't have to be included in the city's inventory of historic homes if they don't want to be.
