Burke romps to win in Ron's Wildlife 10K Run

It was just a run in the park, but Jason Burke was taking it seriously.
Then, so was everyone else entered in the 18th annual Ron's Wildlife 10K Run held on Sept. 16 at Vasona Park in Los Gatos.
Burke, 24, romped to a victory in the Sunday morning run, covering the 10 kilometers in 33:25.6 to finish more than a minute ahead of his nearest rival. There were 319 runners in the field.
Dale Londos, 37, finished second in 34:37.2, with Antonio Arreola, 42, 30 seconds back in third place at 35:07.2.
Claiming the other spots in the top 10 in the 10K were: 4) Robert Evans, 35:26.4; 5) David Porter, 35:50.1; 6) Steve Stock, 35:58.5; 7) Chad Taylor, 36:18.9; 8) David Leroy, 36:39.4; 9) Karl Malmsheimer, 37:05.6; and 10) Larry Bartholomew, 37:52.5.
Cinthya Rinaldo was the women's champ in the 10K event. The 34-year-old ran 41:11.5 to claim first among female competitors and 23rd overall with Tristan Burton, 27, finishing second in 41:23.8 (26th overall) and Liz Nast, 39, of Los Gatos third in 42:24.2 (34th overall).
Vadim Filanovsky romped to a victory in the 5K run held the same day. The 26-year-old ran 19:00.0 to top the field of 214 runners.
Richard Robinson, 43, of Scotts Valley, was second in 19:08.3, with Greg Burke, 55, third in 19:16.3.
The rest of the top 10 finishers in the 5K run included: 4) Carlos Siqueiros, 19:17.9; 5) Michael Cooley, 19:44.5; 6) Reed Kelly, 20:03.3; 7) Steve Pait, 20:21.9; 8) Mahir Agha, 20:28.6; 9) Thor Anderson, 20:39.1; and 10) Jeff Ettinger, 20:51.5.
Samantha Forde finished 18th overall and was the women's winner in the race.
Kaela Hoch, 13, of Los Gatos was second in the women's field and 21st overall in 21:57.1, and Diane Phariss, 42, was third among the women and 25th overall in 22:33.8.
