Volleyball Camp
A fall volleyball camp for girls in grades 5-8 will be held Sundays, 9-11 a.m., Oct. 1-29, at Los Gatos High School.
The camps, hosted by the Vision Volleyball Club, will feature individual training in fundamentals and tactics, and will also teach the basics of team play.
Joe Ripp, in his 11th year as the girls volleyball coach at Los Gatos High, is the camp director. Ripp, who is also the director of Vision Volleyball, will be assisted by Jason Mansfield of Los Altos, Bret Almazan-Cezar of Mitty, Jason Dupler of West Valley College and Katy Eldridge, a current Pro Beach volleyball player.

High School Hockey
Los Gatos will open the fall roller hockey season on Oct. 6, and coaches for club team are looking for players for the coming campaign. The team is Los Gatos High School students only, and games are played Friday nights at Rollin' Ice at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds. For more information, call Randy Frey at 408.356.1424.
Baseball showcase
High school baseball players in the greater San Jose area interested in playing at the collegiate level will get the opportunity to display their talents on Oct. 15 with the Baseball Factory hosts a day-long showcase event at San Jose Municipal Stadium.
The event draws college coaches from throughout the area and professional scouts. The deadline for application is Oct. 8. For more information, call 1.800.641.HITS.
Pitching program
A program for baseball pitchers that covers fundamentals, arm care and defensive skills for youth players ages 9-12 will be held Tuesday evenings Oct. 17 though Dec. 5 in the gym at West Valley Community College in Saratoga. For more information, call Burch Boehner at 408.615.7957.
Quicksilver Challenge
The annual Quicksilver Challenge Half-Marathon and 10K run will be held Oct. 7, 8 a.m., at Castillero Middle School in the Almaden Valley.
