Networking with the neighborhood
Edelen neighborhood activist Barbara Spector will speak on organizing a residents association or neighborhood network Oct. 6 at the Neighborhood Alliance meeting.
The group's mission is to help residents of Los Gatos form a strong network for advocating their common community interest. The meeting will also include reviews of issues currently facing individual Los Gatos neighborhoods.
Interested residents can show up at A Place for Teens, behind the Los Gatos High School tennis courts, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m.
Mobile home park on agenda
Annexation protests and the sticky issue of the proposed Woodland Avenue mobile home park sale and conversion are the key issues on the Town Council's Oct. 4 agenda.
The issues of compensation for displaced mobile home park residents and maintaining affordable housing are among the items the council will consider. A policy governing the conversion must be set by the council before the Planning Department can proceed with the permit process.
Quito Road earns dubious distinction
The National Motorists Association recently rated Quito Road as one of the top speed traps in the country.
The extremely unscientific study, published Sept. 3 in USA Today, surveyed 2,000 of the association's 7,000 members on what spots they believe are overly enforced.
The organization, which advocated eliminating the 55 mph federal speed limit in 1995, listed Los Gatos' Quito Road as one of the eight worst speed traps in California.
