Spanning the Creek

Hikers along the Los Gatos Creek Trail will no longer have to climb a very steep segment near Lark Avenue or have cause to leave the trail and cross Lark Avenue, thanks to a new bridge that was dedicated last Saturday. Here, a crane prepares to hoist one segment of the bridge in the air last Friday. The $179,000 project was funded largely through a grant from the Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation Department, with a portion from town funds specified for creek trail improvements. The bridge, which spans 110 feet and is 10 feet wide, was manufactured in Alexandria, Minn., and shipped in two sections by truck. It was assembled on site and hoisted into place by crane. Collishaw Construction Co. is the general contractor for the project.
