    Petrillo, Still are triathlon champs

    Mark Petrillo and Julia Still led a talented cast of Los Gatos performers at the Ultimate Kids Triathlon held Sept. 16 at De Anza Community College in Cupertino.

    Petrillo and Still each finished first in their age groups, and Hilary May and Shelby Golan were each second when a large field of young athletes took part in the competition that included swimming, biking and running events.

    Petrillo, 12, finished first in the boys 11-12 age group, covering the distance in 19:00.

    Still, 11, and May, 12, finished one-two in the girls 11-12 age group. Still won the event in 21:59 with May a close second in 23:18.

    Golan, 10, nailed a second-place finish in the girls 9-10 age group. Courtney Albini of Atherton finished first in 15:13 with Golan a minute back in second at 16:13.

    Stephanie Petrillo, 10, of Los Gatos ended up fifth in the age group with Marie Sarah Pillari 17th, Emily Anne Pillari 23rd and Leah Haake 26th.

    Tyler Schultz, 10, of Los Gatos was fourth in the boys 9-10 age division. John Holland-McCowan ended up 15th with Wes Heeter 19th and Bevan Waite 27th.

    Erin Wong, 8, of Los Gatos was fourth in the girls 7-8 age class. Los Gatos boys placing in the same age group included Patrick Shultz, 18th; Jeremy Monson, 30th; and Andrew Pillari, 31st.

    In the 5-6 age division, Haley Wong of Los Gatos was 12th in the girls event, and in boys competition Los Gatos finishers included Tyler Bartis, 10th; Eric Ferguson, 12th; H, Holland-McCowan, 22nd; and Randall Riedel, 24th.
