    Police investigate hit and run

    By Jason Baker

Los Gatos-Monte Sereno police arrested a Los Gatos juvenile on Sept. 21 after the car he was driving struck a group of juveniles standing on the sidewalk at 445 Leigh Ave. in Los Gatos--and the driver fled the scene.

Witnesses said just after 2 p.m., the driver drove off the roadway, striking the pedestrians. The suspect immediately drove away from the scene, police said.

Emergency medical workers treated and released four juvenile victims with minor injuries at the scene. Rescue workers also transported an injured 17-year-old girl by ambulance to Kaiser-Santa Teresa Hospital. Police at the time said the girl's injuries were not life threatening. She was later treated and released, officials said.

Witnesses provided investigators with the license plate of the suspect vehicle and the name of the driver, who was known by many of the witnesses. A few minutes later, a Santa Clara County sheriff's deputy found the vehicle abandoned in the parking lot of Leigh High School. Deputies found the suspect nearby and booked him into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall for leaving the scene of an injury accident. Police did not identify the suspect because of his juvenile status.

Law enforcement officials continued to investigate the incident late last week. Police asked that anyone with additional information contact investigators at 408.354.5257.
