Caere Corp. names new vice president

Caere Corporation, a worldwide leader in scanner software based in Los Gatos, announced the promotion of Bob Cortale on July 28 to the position of vice president of North American sales and service. For the past 10 years, Cortale has served with Caere in sales positions, most recently as director of North American sales and service. Caere chairman and CEO Robert Teresi reports that much of the corporation's growth to a $55 million company is attributable to Cortale's efforts. Among other duties, Cortale is now responsible for managing Caere's expanding line of scanner software.

EMQ conference director honored

Marie Cortez, director of the Los Gatos Conference Center facility, located on the Loma Alta Avenue campus of Eastfield Ming Quong, is now a certified meeting professional. She received the designation this summer from the national Convention Liaison Council, based in Colorado.

The CMP honor recognizes meeting professionals who demonstrate high standards in organizing meetings and conferences and obtain a high score on a three-hour examination given by the council.

Cortez has worked at the Los Gatos Conference Center since 1994, organizing daytime meeting retreats for groups and corporations throughout Silicon Valley.
