Los Gatos Weekly-TimesThe ProwlerEver heard of Get Organized Week? The Prowler never knew such a week existed until a friendly fax floated past these whiskers, announcing that the week of Oct. 6-12 is national Get Organized Week. The fax's origin was the appropriately named "Organization and More," a business this cat wasn't surprised to note is a member of a somewhat dauntingly named entity called the National Association of Professional Organizers. This cat, who subscribes to the notion that a messy desk is the sign of creative genius, was nonetheless inspired by the thought of a national event dedicated to those of us who need to get our collective rears in gear. Little things can make a big difference, so why don't we "geniuses" promise ourselves that this week we'll go through that pile of old mail, develop that roll of film or dump all the junk in the car trunk? During the last week of this month--Oct. 25 to be exact--the Greenbelt Alliance has planned a free four-mile hike around Lexington Reservoir called "Ring Around the Reservoir." While looking for the wildcat relatives for which this town is named, the Prowler has trekked around Lex and can attest to the scenic beauty of the area. Dress for the cooler October weather, and don't forget water and snacks--unless you're like the Prowler, who already owns a fur coat and can catch food on the run. The Greenbelt Alliance, incidentally, is a nonprofit Bay Area organization that promotes urban planning and land conservation and plans Greenbelt Outings like the Lexington hike to help people appreciate open space and unspoiled nature.
