B. Joseph Lalor
B. Joseph Lalor, formerly a longtime Los Gatos resident, died Sept. 16 in his San Jose home. He was 87.
Lalor was born Feb. 16, 1914, in Emmett, Idaho. A graduate of Gonzaga University, he had a career in aviation that spanned more than 40 years. He was a member of Sons in Retirement, the Homeowners' Association at The Villages and various community organizations, and was an avid gardener and golfer.
Survivors include daughter Carole Ann Lehr of San Jose and Sheri Lalor of Campbell; sons Dennis Lalor of Santa Cruz and Patrick Lalor of Patterson; grandchildren Steven, Scott, LuAnn, Stephanie, Jodi and Honorine; great-grandchildren Kevin, Amber, Ryan and Nina; sister Irene Brausen of Idaho and Hugh Lalor of Tennessee; also numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services have been held. Donations may be made to the Sisters of the Holy Names, 200 Prospect Ave., Los Gatos, 95030, or to the American Red Cross.
Gilbert Graham
Former Los Gatos resident Gilbert R. Graham died Sept. 16 at his home in Arnold. He was 68.
Graham was born Sept. 2, 1933, in Nebraska City, Neb. He worked as a plumber for 35 years; his last job was with D & H Plumbing, based out of Milpitas. During the Korean War, Graham served in the U.S. Army. He lived in Los Gatos for 41 years, prior to moving to Arnold four years ago.
Survivors include wife Rosie Graham of Arnold; daughter Linda Graham of Seattle; sons Daniel Graham of Las Vegas and Steven Graham of Los Gatos; also two grandchildren.
At his request, no memorial services were held.
Marian Pearce
Longtime Los Gatan Marian Lorraine Pearce died Sept. 17 at Community Hospital of Los Gatos. She was 84.
Born Feb. 18, 1917, in Price, Utah, Pearce graduated from Carbon County High School in 1935 and began working as a stenographer, taking dictation and holding positions in insurance and law offices.
She met her husband, Vernon R. Pearce, in 1941 and married him in 1942 in Newport, R.I., where she took a job in the Office of the Commandant during World War II. In October 1946, the couple and their young son moved to Los Gatos.
During the 1960s and '70s, Pearce was active in school projects, in Barry Goldwater's political campaign and in Republican circles. She belonged to the Los Gatos History Club and was very active in her church.
Survivors include husband Vernon R. Pearce of Los Gatos; daughter Susan Pearce; son Norman Pearce; grandson Jared R. Pearce; nephew John Burger of St. George, Utah; cousins Ruth O'Dea of San Juan Capistrano and Ann Bailey of Winona, Minn.; and sister-in-law Nancy Twiss of Carlsbad.
