Grant helps LWV study
The Los Gatos- Saratoga-Monte Sereno League of Women Voters will get a financial shot in the arm from its share of a three-year, $300,000 grant from the Hewlett Foundation.
The grant will increase the League's capacity to provide communities with information on the issue of sustaining a self-determined quality of life for future generations.
Town changes lot parking times
The Town Council on Oct. 4 took another small step toward easing the parking crunch in the downtown area.
The council, with support from the Town of Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce, voted to impose three-hour time limits on the previously limit-free town lots 1-6, starting Nov. 1 and continuing through Jan. 3. Changing Lot 7 was also discussed, but rejected because of concerns about where employees of downtown's south-end businesses would park.
The three-hour limit will be enforced from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Town honors local youth
Four young Los Gatans will be honored on Oct. 16 for their school and community service and achievements at Los Gatos Youth Park, behind Los Gatos High School near A Place for Teens.
The honorees will be the whistle blowers who lead the annual Children's Christmas and Holiday Parade on Dec. 4.
This year's winners are LGHS students Robin Swab and Andy Swing; Marcus Granger, a student at Fisher Middle School; and John Holland-McCowan, who attends Harker School. The program begin at 10 a.m., and will include refreshments and demonstrations.
