Foreign exchange students Valentina Albertazzi, 16, center, and Andrea Sesta, 17, right, enjoy dinner in the home of their Los Gatos host, Viren Rana, left, and his family. Valentina and Andrea, along with 17 other teens, attend Liceo Luigi Galvani, a high school in Bologna, Italy. They arrived in Los Gatos on Oct. 1 to spend two weeks with the families of Los Gatos High School students as part of an exchange coordinated by LGHS Italian teacher Allison Balas and Liceo Luigi Galvani English teacher Paola Mignani. The teachers' goal was to provide Italian teens with a taste of the "real America," as opposed to the fantasies of Hollywood or the violence of the TV news. This coming spring, Balas will lead a group of LGHS students to Italy to participate in a two-week cultural exchange of their own.
