Critically needed are bilingual poll workers who speak English and Spanish, Vietnamese or Chinese.

A poll worker must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years old. No experience is necessary. The job pays $50 for one day's work, 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Poll workers receive an additional $5 for attending a training session.

Anyone who wants to volunteer should call the registrar of voters at 299-2694.

Workshop set on open space policy

The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District has scheduled a second public workshop to discuss revisions to its basic policy. It will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 30 at the district office, 330 Distel Circle, Los Altos.

The first workshop was held in January. Now, the district is studying improvements to parklands and purchases of additional acreage.

For further information, call Randy Anderson at (415) 691-1200.
