Former town police captain leaves position

Rohnert Park Public Safety Director Jeff Miller resigned from his position Oct. 3 after being on the job for 18 months. Miller was a Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police captain for five years and had been with the department for several years until he left for Rohnert Park in March 2000.

The city's public safety department confirmed that Miller had left on Oct. 5 and that complaints about Miller's management of the city's police department preceded his resignation. Officers allegedly opposed Miller's appointment and made several complaints, including that he demanded to be addressed as "Chief."

Local chambers of commerce sponsor mixer

On Oct. 18, the Los Gatos and Saratoga Chambers of Commerce will jointly hold a mixer at the Toll House Hotel in Los Gatos. The event will run from 5:30 to 7 p.m., with food and beverages provided. Raffle prizes will also be given away. Chamber members will be charged $5 to attend, non-members $10.

Toll House Hotel is at 140 S. Santa Cruz Ave. For more information, or to register, call the chamber at 408.354.9300.

Local street will close for repairs

From now until Nov. 21, lanes on Los Gatos Boulevard will be closed between Blossom Hill Road and Lark Avenue. At least one lane will be open in each direction at all times while construction is going on.

The town's parks and public works department has closed the roads as part of their two-year, $15 million street resurfacing project. Los Gatos Boulevard will undergo a pavement overlay, which includes the slight grinding of the existing street and then the laying down of pavement over it.

For more information, log on to http://www.town.los-gatos.ca.us/new/ or call the town's street resurfacing hotline at 408.210.8089.
