Los Gatos Weekly-Times

The Best of Los Gatos has become almost as much a Los Gatos tradition as the Children's Christmas and Holiday Parade. When the ballot is first published at the end of the summer, Los Gatans can be seen nibbling their breakfast muffins and sipping their lattes with their eyes focused on their ballots. Small wonder their brows are often furrowed. We're asking them to make some difficult decisions.

After all, we're not asking them just to tell us the names of some of the great restaurants and people and places. Simply telling us which flower shop serves up a great selection of posies or which animal groomer sends Fido home looking lovely and feeling pampered wouldn't serve our purpose at all.

We know there are lots of great shops, wonderful people, delightful parks, terrific schools and tantalizing menus. After all, what's not to like about Los Gatos?

What we want to know for this once-a-year special section is nothing short of this: What's the best Los Gatos has to offer?

We're delighted our readers tackle the task we've set for them with so much enthusiasm. For without the readers, the section wouldn't exist.

We prepare the ballots; we count them when they come into the office, and we prepare the copy for this special section. But it is the readers who make the choices. It's hard work, but once again, they've proved up to the task.
