Stop signs to go up in Almond Grove district
Pending final approval, the Los Gatos Parks and Public Works Department will soon install four-way stop signs at the intersection of Tait and Bachman avenues. Along with the stop signs, the town will paint the curbs at the corners red to increase sight distance.
Associate Town Engineer Fred Ho said that the safety measures were a result of the department receiving multiple petitions signed by the majority of residents in the area. The improvements will be in place within a month.
Town denies permission to remove trees
On Oct. 15, the Los Gatos Town Council denied Ken Anderson's request to remove 59 trees from his Diduca Way property. Anderson wanted to remove the trees to make room for an apricot orchard. The town's planning commission had approved the request in June, but neighbors appealed the approval.
Police conduct search in case of missing woman
Two search warrants were executed on the home and office of San Jose resident Maurice Nasmeh on Oct. 12 by the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department, county district attorney's office and county crime lab. Nasmeh, 42, was reportedly the last person to see Los Gatos woman Jeanine Sanchez Harms before she disappeared on July 27, and he has refused to cooperate with the investigation.
Police did not elaborate as to what kind of evidence was seized from the two locations, except to say that the evidence will be analyzed.
