Los Gatos Weekly-TimesNews BriefsLGUSD sets forum on boundaries and unification The Los Gatos Union School District has scheduled a community forum on redrawing school boundaries, with particular focus on unification, a suggestion made by Saratoga Union School District at the Aug. 28 public meeting of the county Committee on School District Reorganization. The meeting is set for Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. in the Fisher Middle School cafeteria. Following the suggestion by the SUSD that the county committee consider unification while looking at the various proposed scenarios, the committee directed its consultant to gather information on realigning school district boundaries with town and city boundaries. Such a move would dramatically impact Los Gatos schools, enlarging the district and merging the elementary schools and Los Gatos High School into one district. The Saratoga City Council recently endorsed a resolution that Saratoga's city boundaries should also be those of its school district. Lexington Dam renamed for Water official The dam at Lexington Reservoir was renamed the James J. Lenihan Dam during a ceremony Oct. 22 to honor the former director of the Santa Clara Valley Water District, who retired last December after serving for nearly 37 years. Lenihan was involved in the San Felipe project, which brings water to the Santa Clara Valley via an aqueduct from the Delta and the San Luis reservoir near Los Baños. He also helped to secure funding from the Department of the Interior for water projects in Santa Clara County.
