Shinn, Morin top scorers

Kevin Shinn of San Jose and Raquel Morin of Campbell were the top scorers in the NFL Gatorade Punt, Pass & Kick competition hosted by San Jose Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services at the Camden Lifetime Activity Center.

Young athletes were involved in a competition that included punting, passing and place-kicking, and scores were measured in distance and accuracy.

Shinn, 13, ran up 327 feet, 8 inches to win the boys' 12-13 age group, and his total was the best recorded in the competition.

Derek Marquardt, 13, of Los Gatos was second in the division, and second overall among all boys, with 326 feet. Thomas Bains, 13, of San Jose was third in the division at 252-7.

Jacob Padilla, 15, of San Jose won the boys' 14-15 division at 318-10 with Jonathan Glover, 14, of San Jose second at 313-4 and Brandon Maypark, 15, of San Jose third at 310.

Robby Cetinich, 11, of San Jose took the boys' 10-11 age group at 233-10 with Darrel Hohenberger, 10, of San Jose second at 225-6 and Danny Glassanos, 11, of Sunnyvale third at 219-9, and Paul Vetere, 9, of San Jose won the boys' 8-9 class at 161-6 with Nathan Garcia, 8, of Santa Clara second at 152-7 and David Glassanos, 9, of Sunnyvale third at 148-8.

Morin, 14, was tops among girls in the competition with 229 feet. She was the winner in the girls' 14-15 age group.

Angie Larsen, 11, of San Jose won the girls' 10-11 title with a 172-11 total. She was first in the 10-11 age group with Janelle Marquardt, 11, of Los Gatos second at 117-6 and Valerie Rosas, 11, of San Jose third at 88-3.
