Ned Ferla
Los Gatan Ned Ferla died on Oct. 9, in his home, following a short battle with cancer. He was 62.
Born Nov. 26, 1937, in San Jose, Ferla lived in Los Gatos all his life; graduating from the old University Avenue School and later from Los Gatos High School. Upon his graduation, Ferla started the Los Gatos Body Shop, which became his career for the next 41 years. In 1997, Ferla and co-owner Bob Miller sold the shop and retired.
Along with repairing cars, Ferla also enjoyed racing them--he and Miller owned a sprint car for a time. Ferla also enjoyed fishing of any kind, especially deep-sea fishing, hunting and dining on good food.
"Ned was everyone's friend, and his friends were devoted to him," his wife Sandy recalls.
Survivors include wife of 42 years Sandy Ferla of Los Gatos; daughter Loree Ferla and numerous brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is planned for Nov. 8, from 1 p.m. to dusk in Vasona Lake County Park, in the first pavilion area on the right.
