The Rev. Dr. Kristin Sundquist, priest and organist at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Saratoga, will perform a recital following the evensong service on Nov. 7 at 4 p.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 20 University Ave., Los Gatos. The service, which is one of the ways St. Luke's is celebrating All Saints' Sunday, is led by Mother Andrea Felsovanyi and features songs by the women of the St. Luke's choir.
Sundquist performs music illustrating the Magnificat, one of the great canticles of the Episcopal church, that details Mary's response to the angel Gabriel. The canticle's text has inspired hundreds of composers over the centuries in their compositions. The program, which lasts about an hour, also includes works by several Baroque composers as well as more contemporary pieces.
A past dean of the American Guild of Organists, Sundquist has been a featured lecturer and recitalist at both the guild's regional and national conventions. She is the president of the Council of Churches of Santa Clara County.
