Gatos girls win

The Los Gatos girls volleyball team pulled out a come-from-behind win over Los Altos in action last week in the De Anza Division of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League.

The Wildcats lost 15-4, 15-9 to the Eagles to fall behind 2-0 in the match. But the Cats battled back with three straight wins to take the decision. Gatos won 15-6, 15-8, 15-2 to claim the victory.

Los Gatos is now 7-3 in the division and 20-8 for the year.

Youth Basketball

Registration is now under way for boys and girls in grades 3-6 interested in playing youth basketball.

The league, sponsored by the Los Gatos-Saratoga Department of Community Education and Recreation, will run Jan. 8-March 13, with games played on Saturdays at either Los Gatos High School or Fisher Middle School.

Walk-in, mail-in and fax (395-3828) are now being accepted at the recreation department office, 123 E. Main St. The registration deadline is Nov. 13.

The fee of $65 includes a T-shirt and framed team picture. A $5 fee is charged to those players who do not live within the recreation district.

Practice begins the week of Dec. 7. Call 354-8700.

Stanford holds baseball camps

A series of Stanford holiday baseball camps will be offered in November and December.

Hitting and defensive instruction will be offered over Thanksgiving weekend, Nov. 27-29, and there will be pitching, hitting and defensive camps over Christmas vacation on Dec. 20-22 and Dec. 27-29.

The camps are open to players ages 13-18, and the cost is $100 per session.
