Curfew hearing set for council meeting

Revisions to the town's curfew law will be proposed at the Nov. 17 Town Council meeting. The curfew restricts anyone under 18 from being out, unsupervised, between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.

According to LGPD Capt. Jeff Miller, the police department asked the town attorney to rewrite the current law after a challenge to a similar law in San Diego resulted in a ruling that the law was constitutionally vague.

The meeting is scheduled for Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 110 E. Main St. A public hearing is required to amend town ordinances.

Monte Sereno eyes new landscaping

The Monte Sereno City Council will consider a design for new a landscaping plan for City Hall at its Nov. 18 meeting.

At its last meeting, the council reviewed two designs by landscape architect W. Jeffrey Heid of Saratoga.

The designs proposed replacing the current drought-resistant landscape with a lawn and shrubs, as well as relocating some of the trees.

The council session begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 18041 Los Gatos-Saratoga Road.

America Recycles Day promotes compost

The Santa Clara County Home Composting Program will join thousands of recyclers across the country on Nov. 15 to participate in America Recycles Day.

Composting demonstrations are scheduled Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Smartstation on Lawrence Expressway at Carl Street in Sunnyvale.
