Cellular antennas get approval
Three new cellular-antenna sites on Los Gatos rooftops received Planning Commission approval Nov. 13, but commissioners refused to allow a 45-foot pole at the San Jose Water Works site on More Avenue.
A neighbor objected to the pole, because he feared Pacific Bell would keep adding cellular panels to it, as the owners did to the one antenna on the site now.
One approved antenna will go on the roof of Diddams, 18 N. Santa Cruz Ave. The others will be fixed atop an office building at 15951 Los Gatos Blvd.
Water district wants to share drought plan
Santa Clara Valley Water District is planning for dry days ahead.
The district projects that a shortage equaling a third of the county's yearly consumption could hit water supplies by the year 2020. They have a strategy, and they want to explain it to customers who use the water.
The district's water supply strategy is to be unveiled at a public meeting of the board of directors Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. in the district board room, 5750 Almaden Expressway.
Another meeting is set for Dec. 10 at 9 a.m. in the same location.
Friends seek help to save theater
Los Gatos Friends of the Arts is looking for new members to focus attention on saving the Old Town Theater. Any area resident can join.
The group wants to find tenants for the auditorium at Old Town that was once used as a community theater. Members of the group hope to help a regional theater company move into the space and share it with local groups.
Owners of Old Town are considering making the theater into retail space, but said they'd cooperate when Friends of the Arts offered to find a theater company to rent the space.
