Los Gatos Weekly-Times Wildcats fall to Panthers in CCS volleyball finals By Dick Sparrer The Los Gatos girls' volleyball team played its way into the Central Coast Section Division III finals, but the Wildcats lost a heartbreaker in five games to powerful Presentation. The Wildcats had rolled through the field with easy wins over Mills, Del Mar and Gunn, but they lost to the Panthers in the title match. Presentation ran its record to 26-10 with the win, and Los Gatos slipped to 22-9. The Wildcats, behind the talents of seniors Amy Grabell and Brie Ohlund and junior Alyson Coler, powered to three wins to open the playoffs. The Cats beat Mills 15-1, 15-1, 15-3, Del Mar 15-8, 15-6, 15-5 and Gunn 15-5, 15-8, 15-2 to move into the championship round. But Los Gatos lost in the finals to Presentation after getting out to a sensational start. The Cats topped the Panthers 15-6, 15-9 to open the match, but Presentation battled back with three straight wins to claim the impressive come-from-behind victory. The Panthers won 15-9, 15-10 and 16-14 to clinch the championship. Other members of the powerful Los Gatos squad this season were juniors Margo Buchanan, Lorinda Eggers, Jamie Kellenberger and Jennifer Lewis and sophomores Katie Allan, Ruth Kucklick, Chanel Ohlund, Kelly Rinehart and Lauren Rinehart.
