Super Crown opens store at Blossom Hill Pavilion

The Crown bookstore that disappeared from N. Santa Cruz Avenue was replaced Sept. 9 when a Super Crown opened in the domed Blossom Hill Pavilion at Blossom Hill Road and Los Gatos Boulevard.

The store still sells mainly books, but with four times as much space at its new location, it has added a lot more books. Super Crown outlets carry more than 80,000 hardcovers, paperbacks, CDs, magazines and other items, said Crown spokeswoman Julie Safer.

Crown's specialty is still offering books on the New York Times best-seller list at a discount. Numerous other categories, such as computers and fiction, have been expanded.

A large offering of kids books, tapes and stuffed toys is nestled in the rear corner of the store. Although the focus is books, the new Super Crown also offers newspapers, greeting cards, and some compact discs that were unavailable at the smaller store.

The most popular convenience is the bookstore's collection of comfy, overstuffed chairs, which patrons can sink into while they peruse books.

After Christmas, the store will host a series of book signings and a few poetry readings.

Super Crown, 636 Blossom Hill Road. Hours: Mon.-Sat.. 10 a.m.- 10 p.m.; Sun., 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
