    Loyce Starks

    Los Gatos resident Loyce "Orlando" Starks died Oct. 27, at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was 77.

    Starks was born April 22, 1923, in Indianapolis, Ind. He was a graduate of Purdue University and an honorary fraternity member of Iota Lambda Sigma.

    During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army, where he fought in the cavalry and earned many honors, including the American Campaign Medal, Victory Medal WWII, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, two bronze service stars and two overseas service bars.

    Starks worked as a technical writer for IBM. He also had a black belt in karate.

    Survivors include wife Geraldine Starks of Los Gatos; daughter Celeste Starks of San Jose and son Vincent Starks of Los Gatos.

    Memorial services have been held. Donations may be made to the Purdue Alumni Association, Purdue Memorial Union, Room 160, 101 N. Grant St., W. Lafayette, Ind., 47906.

    Patricia Wallace Walsh of Los Gatos died on Oct. 25, of a stroke at the age of 77.

    Born June 24, 1923, in Santa Clara, Walsh was the third generation to live in the family home at the corner of Winchester Boulevard and Vineland Avenue.

    Before her retirement, Walsh worked as a kindergarten teacher. She was also an artist and a lover of nature.

    Survivors include son Roger Walsh of San Diego; daughter and son-in-law Claudia and Mark Spongberg of Santa Rosa; grandchildren Shannon, Lea, Rhett and Colby; and sister Barbara Wallace Ramsey of Pennsylvania.

    A celebration of life has been held.
