Dorothy Shaw
Local resident Dorothy E. Shaw died Oct. 10 at the age of 85.
Shaw, a California native, was born Aug. 26, 1914. She worked as operations manager for Dean Witter in San Jose for more than 25 years. She was an active member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Saratoga and served on the board of directors of the Episcopalian Homes Foundations. She was active in many community issues and organizations in Saratoga and Los Gatos and was an accomplished watercolor artist.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Carol and Richard Schmidt; granddaughters Jillene Welch and Paige Landry; and great-granddaughter Cassandra Welch.
Memorial services have been held. Donations can be made to the Greater San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, 330 Distel Circle, Suite A, Los Altos, 94022.
Richard Brock
Richard Lafayette Brock, a 35-year resident of Los Gatos, died Nov. 12.
Brock, who was born in Indiana in 1925, served in France during World War II and received a Purple Heart medal. He graduated from Purdue University and was employed by IBM for 40 years. He was also a member of the Almaden Country Club.
Brock was predeceased by his first wife, Katie Brock, to whom he was married for 42 years. Survivors include wife Helen Brock of San Jose; children Marta of Olympia, Wash., Sandy of Campbell and Rick of San Francisco; grandson Eric; and sister June Wagner of Columbus, Ohio.
Memorial services have been held.
