    County to hear skatepark plans

Los Gatos' plan to build a skateboarding facility in the Vasona Lake County Park will be presented at a Dec. 5 county parks and recreation commission meeting. The commissioners will make a recommendation on the skatepark to the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors.

Members of the public are encouraged to show their support for the proposal at the meeting, starting at 7 p.m. in the County Government Center, 70 W. Hedding St., San Jose. Call 408.299.2323 or 408.359.3741, ext. 131.

    Meeting to focus on expansion

Lexington Quarry has applied for expansion and a renewal of its use permit from the county. The county is holding a community meeting Dec. 6, from 7 to 9 p.m., to receive public input on the impacts of the quarry and its proposed expansion. The meeting will take place at the Los Gatos Council Chambers, 110 E. Main St. For further details, contact Derek Farmer at 408.299.5785.

    Residents experience blackout

Approximately 9,000 Los Gatos residents and businesses lost power from 5:30 to 7:10 p.m. Nov. 27 after the PG&E substation had a mechanical transmission problem. According to Los Gatos-Monte Sereno police Sgt. Dave Gravel, streets west and south of Blossom Hill Road and Los Gatos Boulevard were affected, including most of downtown. No car accidents were reported as a result of the outage, although there was major congestion on local streets. Gravel wants to remind drivers that a signalized intersection should be treated as a four-way stop sign during blackouts. Parts of Saratoga and Los Altos also lost power.
